2009 Annual Continuing Professional Development Reports
Reports are due before April 1, 2010.
Pursuant to Law Society Rule 2-81.1(1), members with active practising status must file an annual report of their continuing professional development (CPD) activities during the 2009 calendar year.
To help members file their reports, we have upgraded the Member's Portal area of the Law Society's website For Lawyers - Law Society of Manitoba.
To log on to the Member's Portal, you will need:
- Your user name, which is the business email address that you provided to the Law Society. You can look up that email address by using the Lawyer Lookup feature.
- Your password, which is your 2008 certificate number. If you don't know your password contact Laura Ziemanski at 926-2032 or email her at lziemanski@lawsociety.mb.ca. If you were called in 2009 contact James Ramsay at 926-2018 or email him at jramsay@lawsociety.mb.ca and he will assign a password to you.
Your online report will automatically list your registrations for CPD programs offered by the Law Society of Manitoba. It will permit you to add CPD activities from other providers and eligible self-study activities.
Eligible self-study activities include:
- Computer-assisted CPD
- Video or DVD review
- Non-file related reading
- Non-file related research
The Law Society recommends that each practising member participates in at least 12 hours of CPD activity per year. We recommend that at least 2 of the 12 hours focus on any of the following (or any combination):
- Ethics or Code of Professional Conduct
- Professional Responsiblity or Law Society Rules
- Practice/Office Management or Client Relations
insert "None" in the fields and in the date field insert "2009-12-31".
