CHANGES TO SUPPORT ENFORCEMENT – WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

Are you familiar with The Strengthened Enforcement of Family Support Payments and Miscellaneous Amendments Act and the Maintenance Enforcement Regulation?  Did you know that the Maintenance Enforcement Program is getting a new computer system?  Do you know how these things will affect the enforcement of your clients’ support orders?  If you answered “no” to any of these questions, you will not want to miss this informative program.  Topics to be covered will include:

  • The enforcement related changes contained in The Strengthened Enforcement of Family Support Payments and Miscellaneous Amendments Act, including support deduction notices, limits on suspensions of enforcement, and penalties and cost recoveries;
  • How to read the new MEP printouts;
  • Changes to how the MEP does business as a result of the new legislation, regulations and computer system.
