Jointly presented by the Law Society of Manitoba & the Criminal Defence Lawyers’ Association

This workshop will feature a mix of plenary and small group sessions lead by experienced Judges and Defence Counsel. 

Topics will include:

  • Assessing your File
  • Canada Evidence Act sections 9(1) and (2)
  • What is a “Khelawon” and the defence application
  • Necessity, Threshold Reliability and Ultimate Reliability
  • Jury trial versus Judge alone Considerations
  • The always popular Faculty Demonstration!

 

As usual the faculty will include Experienced Defence counsel & Judges from both the Provincial Court and Court of Queen’s Bench.

Registration Fees:

Year of Call 2014-2017 (incl. articling students): $175 plus GST
Year of Call 2011-2013:                                    $250 plus GST
Year of Call 2010 or earlier:                               $325 plus GST

Note: Registration fees include materials and refreshments, not lunch.

Eligibility For CPD Hours: This program may be reported for up to 6 hours of eligible CPD activity, including 0.5 hours of EPPM.
