CPLED CALL to the BAR INFORMATION for STUDENTS

Information and forms required for a CPLED Graduate to be called to the Manitoba bar are found in this category. In order to be eligible to be called all documents and fees must be received and approved by the Law Society of Manitoba before a date of call will be confirmed. _________________________________________________________________________ For CPLED Graduates participating in the June Mass Call, the filing deadline for all requirements to be received at the Education & Competence Department is May 3, 2019.

Call to the Bar Information Document
A hard copy Call to the Bar information package will be provided to CPLED Students attending the last Face to Face sessions in February 2018. Please note that all forms and applications are subject to change. The most recent versions are those available on the Law Society's website. Any questions or concerns regarding the application process and/or requirements for call should be directed to the Admissions & Membership Department.
Application and Petition for Call and Admission for Manitoba CPLED Graduates
For use by the graduating CPLED students to apply for their Call to the Bar and must be accompanied with the required fee and supporting documentation to be eligible for call.
Certificate of Completion - Principal Document
In order to be eligible to be called to the Manitoba bar, an articling student's principal(s) must sign a certificate of completion of articles for the time the student has spent in his or her office. The Certificate of Completion of Articles is required as part of the documentation that must be submitted for a student's petition for call to be considered for approval.
Student Final Assessment of Education Plan
This form is intended to review the extent to which an articling experience complied with the Education Plan and to provide the Education and Competence Department with constructive feedback to improve the articling experience for future student. It is not a performance appraisal of a principal.
Request for Individual Call to the Bar
For graduating CPLED Students who may be eligible to be Called on a date other than the scheduled Mass Call or wish to be Called in a location other than Winnipeg. This request must be submitted with the Application and Petition for Call and Admission and the Certificate of Completion.
Application to Commence Active Practice
An Application to Commence Active Practice must be filed by all new members who intend to practise law in Manitoba. ______________________________________________________________________ Applicants requesting to commence active practice more than 90 days AFTER their Call to the Bar must also submit this application together with a non-refundable application fee along with a certificate of standing from all governing bodies of the legal profession, inside and outside of Canada, of which you are or were ever a member, dated not more than 30 days before the date of your application.
