Law Society Extends Forgivable Loan Program
The Law Society has extended the Forgivable Loan Program for another year. The Law Society will award a forgivable loan to a student from an under-serviced Manitoba community who has been accepted into first year at the University of Manitoba Faculty of Law for September 2012. The Law Society will forgive 20% of the loan for each year that the recipient practises in his or her community after being called to the bar. This initiative is supported by the Manitoba Bar Association and the University of Manitoba Faculty of Law. The application deadline is April 30, 2012

2011-2012 Manitoba CPLED Program Schedule Now Available
The CPLED Program is the Law Society of Manitoba's bar admission course. The Manitoba CPLED Program begins on Monday, August 29, 2011.
New Fillable CPD Registration Forms
When registering for a Continuing Professional Development (CPD) program, just open the registration form found on the program page, fill out the fields online and save the completed PDF. Then, submit the form by either email or fax.

NEW! Changes to Practice Directions and Practice Notices
In addition to the new Code of Professional Conduct that came into effect on January 1, 2011, a number of Practice Directions and Practice Notices that were either outdated or were incorporated into the new Code have been repealed by the Benchers.
NEW! Code of Professional Conduct
A new Code of Professional Conduct came into effect on January 1, 2011. All members of the profession will be required to complete training by December 31, 2011.
Fees in Estate Matters
The Benchers have approved Statements of Principles applicable to lawyers who act in a representative capacity and also to fees generally in the context of estate administration. (both those of the personal representative and of the lawyer acting for the personal representative)
