Feeling out of step with all of the electronic legal research services that are available?  Unsure which service you should be using when doing legal research, and what the pros and cons are of each? Want to improve your electronic legal research skills?  If you answered “yes” to any of these questions you won’t want to miss this hands on session, where you will work in small groups with knowledgeable research assistants assigned to guide you through the research process.

Topics to be covered in this program include:

  • Free online legal research resources
    o   CanLII
    o   Federal & Provincial Legislation
  • Comparison of major subscription-based online legal research services
  • Benefits & drawbacks of online research (including a discussion of cost-effectiveness)

Who should attend – Practitioners who do not (yet!) do electronic legal research.  Practitioners who do not regularly conduct electronic legal research and/or are responsible for overseeing students or junior associates who perform electronic legal research.

Special Instructions – This program is designed to provide practical instruction on electronic legal research.  Please bring your laptops with you to participate in the small group exercise.

Lawyer - $145.00 (plus GST)
MBA Member - $125.00 (plus GST)
